Convicted on plea of guilty to false pretenses with intent to defraud, defrauding the Commonwealth, and dishonestly causing a loss to the Commonwealth; sentenced on each count to a term of imprisonment for three years, to be served concurrently, and to be released after 15 months upon her entering into a recognisance of $2,500, conditioned that she keep the peace and be of good behaviour for four years.

Sentence application granted and appeal allowed by sentencing on each count to three years, to be released after 12 months upon her entering into a recognisance of $2,500, conditioned that she keep the peace and be of good behaviour for a period of four years; sentence imposed was manifestly excessive when regard is had to relevant sentencing principles, the authorities referred to by way of comparatives and the circumstances: Fraser JA, Philippides and Daubney JJ.
