Mr Puryer was the subject of a discipline application under s 452 of the Legal Profession Act 2007. The application alleged that Mr Puryer was guilty of unsatisfactory professional conduct and/or professional misconduct as a result of things that occurred during a hearing before Daubney J in the Supreme Court in December 2007. Mr Puryer unsuccessfully applied to strike out parts of the affidavit filed in support of that application: Justice Alan Wilson, President.

The Tribunal found that Mr Puryer misled the Supreme Court and failed to meet his obligation of frankness and candour to the court. Mr Puryer was guilty of professional misconduct and it was ordered that his name be removed from the roll of practitioners: Justice Alan Wilson, President, Mr G Sinclair, Dr S Dann.
